Hire a Gameplay Ability System developer for Unreal Engine 5.
One senior GAS developer, freelance in structure, with a company on the invoice. We design, build, migrate and fix GAS, including multiplayer prediction. Work starts with an Architecture Diagnostic from $749, and the first call is free.
The GAS problems we're hired for.
Whether you need a GAS consultant or a contractor to write the code.
Ability desync in multiplayer
Abilities that fire on the client but not the server, cooldowns that disagree. Fixed in the pipeline, not the symptom.
Client prediction boundaries
What the client may predict, what the server must confirm, and how rollback behaves. See the pipeline case.
Attribute set design
Health, shields, stamina and stats split into sets that scale, with clamping that doesn't fight itself.
Effect stacking and execution calculations
Stacking rules and execution calcs that stay cheap under load; see the 2.6 → 0.3 ms note.
Gameplay cue routing
A tag taxonomy that lets VFX and SFX hook in without an engineer, and without cues firing on the wrong clients.
Lyra GAS integration
Weapons, input configs and modular gameplay features on Lyra's GAS layer.
Migrating combat off character classes
Moving live combat onto GAS without a content freeze. See the migration case file.
Architecture review before you build
A GAS consultant's second opinion before the first ability is written, so the refactor never happens.
Fixes on file.
Under NDA. Names sealed, outcomes documented.
Specialist, outstaffing or marketplace?
Need a team of engineers and artists? An outstaffing or co-development studio fits better. Small, well-understood task? A marketplace freelancer is cheaper. One hard GAS or multiplayer system blocking a milestone? That's a specialist.

Architecture Diagnostic
From $749A focused technical review of your project's architecture, performance or multiplayer systems.
Larger development engagements are scoped individually. What drives GAS cost
Before you hire.
Anything else? Ask us directly.
Do you work as a freelancer or a studio?
Both, in practice. You work directly with one senior Unreal Engine 5 engineer, freelance in structure, and invoice a company, Reignance Studios, for procurement. There is no account manager and no hand-off to juniors.
Are you a GAS consultant, or do you write the code?
Both. Consulting covers architecture reviews and diagnostics; most engagements then continue into writing, testing and documenting the code.
Can you join an existing UE5 codebase?
Yes. A short codebase review call sets the baseline, and we are usually productive within the first few days. Perforce and Git LFS workflows are both fine.
Do you do GAS migrations on live projects?
Yes, it is the most common engagement: moving combat off character classes onto the Gameplay Ability System in a codebase that already ships, without a content freeze. One migration delivered 20+ replicated abilities with zero ability desync after QA.
What's your hourly rate?
Work usually starts with an Architecture Diagnostic from $749. Larger development engagements are scoped individually, and an hourly rate is available on request.
What timezone do you work in?
IST (UTC+5:30), with overlap calls scheduled for US, EU and AU teams. Work is async-first with written updates at each milestone.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, always. A mutual NDA can be signed before you share any detail, and client work is confidential by default.
